PPGI is pre-painted galvanized iron, also known as pre-coated steel, coil coated steel, color coated steel, etc., usually with hot dip zinc coated steel substrate.
The term is an extension of GI which is the traditional abbreviation for galvanized iron. Today the term GI generally refers to essentially pure zinc (> 99%), as opposed to batch dip processes, continuous hot dip coated steel.PPGI refers to factory pre-painted zinc coated steel, where steel is painted before it is made, as opposed to post painting that occurs after it is made.
PPGI is produced on continuous lines that involve several stages of surface cleaning and coating in a controlled environment and baking at high temperatures.
The hot dip metal coating process is also used to manufacture steel sheets and coils with coatings of aluminum, or alloy coatings of zinc / aluminum, zinc / iron and zinc / aluminum / magnesium.
